2006 Season Capsule

The inaugural season of the NSJTL held many exciting matches. None was more exciting than the Championship match between Team Agassi and Team Courier. Agassi got on the board first with Nicky Gram winning his singles match 6-2, 6-1.

Team Courier countered with an exciting match between Peter Serafini and Chris MacDonald. Serafini won the thriller in a second set tie-breaker.

The decisive match came down to doubles, as Team Courier sent out Jon Drake and Jie Xu against Agassi’s George Astaforov and Greg Balek. This decisive match came down to the third set. With Drake and Xu up a break in the third and leading 5-4, Astaforov and Balek broke back and continued to build on that momentum to take a 7-5 victory in the third set to win the first NSJTL Championship Cup.
